Section outline

    • NOTICE: Unless you are doing calculations, please do all of your work in blue or black pen.

    • Day 1

      • Start gathering lab supplies: string, meter stick or other ruler, paper clip, 9-12 large washers, masking tape or any tape
        • Note: You will need a table/dresser/flat surface where you can tape the meter stick for the activity
        •  Acceptable substitutes:
          • For string: yarn/ribbon/cord/etc.
          • For washers: nuts (hardware), small objects you could put on the paperclip
          • For paperclip: wire, a hook that could be tied to a string (not a fishing hook)
      • Print the Study Guide
      • Read Chapter 1 Section 1 (1.1, pages 3-9)
        • As you read, define any vocabulary words on the study guide.
      • Watch the video for Lesson 1.1
        •  As you watch, answer the questions and complete any exercises on the study guide
      • In your notebook:
        • Write the chapter and section followed by  “Exercises” (ex. 1.1 Exercises)
        • Exercises for Chapter 1 begin on page 18
        • Answer Study Question #4 on page 18 in a few complete sentences. Use specific details and proper vocabulary.

    • Day 2

      • Read 1.2 (pages 9-14)
        • As you read, define any vocabulary words on the study guide.
      • Watch the video for Lesson 1.2
        • As you watch, answer the questions and complete any exercises on the study guide.
      • In your notebook:
        • Write the chapter and section followed by  “Exercises” (ex. 1.1 Exercises)
        • Exercises for Chapter 1 begin on page 18
        • Answer Study Questions #1,2,5-7,13 in a few complete sentences. Use specific details and proper vocabulary.

    • Day 3
      • Read “Experiment 1 The Pendulum Experiment” pages 346-348
      • Watch the video for the Lab Preparation Lesson
      • After you watch the video:
        • Prepare you lab notebook for tomorrow's data collection portion of the lab using the format in the video
        • Visualize using you supplies to create a pendulum
          • Finish gathering all necessary supplies for class

    • Day 4

      • Before class: 
        • Prepare all necessary supplies for class
      • Attend LIVE class or do lab at co-op meeting or with a parent  

      Day 5

      • Submit the Unit materials in the following order: Study guide, Exercises (in order by lesson), Pendulum lab data collection, work for quiz
      • The Formal Lab Report is NOT due this week
        • You are only turning in the data that you collected during our live class
        • Next week we will review writing a lab report.
        • The lab report will be due in Unit 3.
        • It will include the following sections: heading, purpose, experimental procedure, and results
          • The format for these sections will be explained in next week's lesson
      • Take the Quiz and repeat for mastery
